NAN 2022 Save The Date

Thank You Departing Board Members

The NAMHSA Board of Directors would like to take a moment to thank the departing board members for their service.

Bethany Shaw, Vicky Kitzman, Amber Stearnes, Sydney Epley and LeeAnn Bachman are all departing the Board of Directors after serving their regions as representative. I think we can speak for the hobby at large in saying that their service is not only appreciated, but was exceptional during what was a very challenging time for the entire world. Navigating the hobby through the difficult storm of COVID was an all hands on deck affair for the organization, and without each and every part of the team, NAMHSA could not have succeeded.

Thank you so much to each of you for your time and commitment, the organization and hobby at large are grateful for all you have done! The Board of Directors would like to say a special thanks to LeeAnn, who will be staying on board as NAMHSA's Social Media Coordinator. The organization as a whole thrives because of devoted volunteers!

Welcome New President Elena Lemm

The NAMHSA Board of Directors is proud to welcome our new President, Elena Lemm who comes to us from Region 5!

Hi all, I am a long time model horse collector and artist. I started collecting when I was about 5, my first model was the liver chestnut FAM and FAF back when we lived in CO. I found the hobby community about 15 years ago and began showing. My first show was A Midwinter's Night Dream, held by the amazing show host Shannon Southard. I was hooked! Since then, I have been hosting my own shows in my home region, Yay Region 5!! Lemmonade Live, Labor Day Live and Merry Magnolia. I also photo show and am the Champion show coordinator and book designer for MEPSA. In addition to collecting and showing, I also customize models. My passion is drastic customs with mohair, especially Baroque breeds. Since that obviously wasn't enough, I am also the Model Horse Blab director (hobby website) and creator of High Point Ponies (Region 5 hobby club). ;)

In non-model life, I have a successful bookkeeping business and teach horseback riding lessons at the most amazing dressage stable. I have four amazing horses: two mares (Susie and Holly) and two geldings (Snow and Cabernet). I have a very supportive and amazing husband (who doesn't mind how many horses there are in the house and around it) and two beautiful children.

NAMHSA wise, I volunteered with NAMHSA as the fundraising coordinator for two years. I truly believe NAMHSA has a valuable place in the model horse community and that its continuity is important. The National Championship is the ultimate goal for showers, what could be greater? I'd love to see NAMHSA as an organization that not only puts on the most amazing annual model horse show, but also reaches out to new members and encourages participation and involvement within the hobby.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me better. I hope that you'll give me the opportunity to lead NAMHSA to a brighter future.

Thank you, Elena

Eleanor Harvey 25 Years of NAMHSA Service

The NAMHSA Board of Directors would like to highlight an important milestone for NAMHSA’s longest serving volunteer.

For the last 25 years, Eleanor Harvey has served the NAMHSA Board of Directors, but most recognizably and faithfully as our Parliamentarian. This exacting role has been expertly manned by Eleanor, with prompt and proper guidance no matter what the storm. Her discretion and candor are something that has brought an incredible gift to all those who have had the chance to serve with her as well as the organization as a whole.

Eleanor has also served as NAMHSA President, Regional Representative, and has co-chaired the North American Nationals twice! The experience she brings to the board is, to say the least, absolutely priceless.

On Friday, July 9th 2021, past NAMHSA President, Sara Parr, awarded Eleanor with a very special award in honor of her years of dedication and service. Created by Mountain View Studios expressly for this occasion, the NAMHSA Board of Directors wanted to celebrate this incredible milestone with a piece that was as unparalleled as she.

Thank you Eleanor Harvey, for your 25 years of service! The NAMHSA Board of Directors, past and present, are honored to have you!

Welcome Region 11 representative, Lynn Royea!

The NAMHSA Board of Directors is excited to announce your Region 11 representative, Lynn Royea!

Hello Region 11!
I am running for Region Rep again! I have been your representative for the past 6 years and would love to continue doing so! In the past, I have judged for several shows in my region, including the sugar fueled Sugar High Live, and Lethbridge Live to name a couple. I have also hosted my own Halloween themed show, Haunted Horse Live, which also runs on candy and spooky fun!

In the past year, I have aquired two of my own "real life horses" (for references obviously) and I adore them to pieces. JC is a 21 year old TWH mare, and Matthew is my 2 year old pain't in the butt.

I also love to paint! My studio is only open in the winter months, as I have a pretty full workload in the summer as a campground manager, but winter is my time to relax and smell the frozen roses.

My dream one day is to work up north in the remote towns of the arctic circle. But until then, I reside in Bassano in a small town of 1300 people.

Hello fellow collectors! My name is Sarah Gresens and I am absolutely honored to become your region 9 representative! I am and have been a very active member of the hobby here in Leesburg, Virginia since 2010. At 20 years old, I currently see myself as a black hole, collect as much as I can kind of collector haha. I have around 600 traditionals right now and I won’t stop there! I mainly collect OFP but I have just recently begun diving into resins! Horses have always been a huge part of my life and I plan to collect for as long as I possibly can! I have been a member of NAMHSA since 2018 and I love the organization and all that they do. That being said, there’s a lot of ways they can improve and that’s why I’ve decided to run! I feel I can contribute a lot of new ideas and help the organization stay young! As your region 9 representative, I will be very active within the community through social media! I want region 9 to feel like a close knit family.

Welcome Region 7 representative, Melissa Steinkamp!

The NAMHSA Board of Directors is excited to announce your new Region 7 representative, Melissa Steinkamp!

My name is Melissa Steinkamp. I have been involved in the model horse live showing and hobby community for over 20 years. For those of you keeping track, that means my love of all things plastic horse has been around for 2/3rds of my whole life. Many collectors may remember me as a young teenager cutting my live showing teeth at Heather Jackson-Lain’s Model Horses Anonymous, a show I skipped my high school prom to attend. Today, I focus heavily on Original finish Breyer Collectibility and anything ASB!

I am running for region 7 rep for many reasons, but the primary one is that I want to be involved in constructing the future and the present of the hobby and the organization that has meant so much to me. This past year has provided me with ample time to reflect on what I value in my life. The model horse community was consistently at the top of my list of things I am grateful for. I want to see this hobby and this organization flourish and continue to thrive, particularly with younger collectors!

I feel I am uniquely well suited to the position as region representative. My job as a Clinical Psychologist means I am well versed in listening to people’s thoughts and hopes, and particularly their frustrations and concerns. I am excellent at conflict resolution and interpersonal relationship building. I am also very active and reachable via social media, Maning I am involved in the day to day goings on of the hobby.

When I am not working or making plastic horse Tik Toks, I can often be found playing DnD, watching The Office again for the millionth time, making people look at pictures of my cat, or getting sunburned by a pool.

Welcome Region 5 representative, Ryan Gagne!

The NAMHSA Board of Directors is excited to announce your new Region 5 representative, Ryan Gagne!

Hello Region Five! My name is Ryan Gagne, I have been a fellow shower for the past four years and a fellow judge for two years. Though I have been collecting off and on since 2010. Not only have I done live shows, but during the past year I have been hosting, judging, and showing in numerous photo shows to test my show string and my judging knowledge while we have been away from live showing. I also run a successful Instagram page under the name, ruffbaro, that has a little over 5.5k followers showcasing my own collection as well as photos I have taken of other peoples models at live shows.
As your Region Five Representative I want to be involved with everyone in the Region and making sure it is a fun and safe environment for all! I want myself to be a safe place for people to come and talk about any concerns they may have as well as general show advice or just a friend to talk to. I know for myself model horse showing as always been an escape from work or school and to just have a relaxing time, I want that for everyone and as the Regions Representative I will strive to make this Region that safe place for everyone.

Welcome Region 1 Rep Cheryl Ellison

The NAMHSA Board of Directors is excited to announce your new Region 1 The NAMHSA Board of Directors is excited to announce your new Region 1 representative, Cheryl Ellison!

Greetings Region I
I would like to serve as your NAMHSA Region Rep. I’ve been involved in the hobby since 1986 and am excited for an opportunity to “give back” to something I’ve enjoyed for more than half my lifetime. There are so many facets to our hobby whether it’s showing, making tack and props, collecting, painting and sculpting, or simply a love of all that is equine. I have several goals: attend all Region I shows or at a minimum sponsor classes or donate items; be available and responsive over a variety of platforms such as email, IM, text, and social media; support the Region I Championship show; explore options for swap meets, how-to’s, and judging clinics; help show holders when we’re able to safely come together again in large groups; and listen and learn from fellow hobbyists. Over the years I’ve held and judged mail-in and online photo shows, held and judged live shows, and have attended all sorts of live shows from intimate home shows to NAN and the BreyerFest Open Show. I’ve served as MEPSA Treasurer, Region I Treasurer, have judged at MEPSA and NAN, and had the amazing opportunity to serve as Hobby Ambassador at BreyerWest. Besides hobby knowledge I bring organizational skills and an ability to multitask and juggle the demands on my time.
