05/28/2019 NAMHSA Board of Directors Revise Fantasy Entry Qualifications and Requirements

NAMHSA Board of Directors Revise Fantasy Entry Qualifications and Requirements

In April 2019, the NAMHSA Board of Directors voted in revised requirements and new qualifications for fantasy entries seeking NAN qualifications at member shows. The proposal, brought forth by Rachel Stacy in conjunction with research by Christina Riley (Region 10), was approved as follows:
NAMHSA Policies, Section IV. NAN, Subsection C. NAN Qualification - 6 Fantasy Equine
T6) Fantasy Equine eligibility is limited to equine based fantasy models such as: Equine Unicorns, Pegasus, Hippocampus, Hippogriff, Thestral, Zombie Horse, Skeletal Horse, or other fantasy equines which depict a creature that is at least 50% equine in form.
a. Determination of the 50% compliance for equine creatures is decided at the show level at discretion of the show holder; this may be delegated to the show judge(s).
(1.) Approval of the 50% compliant equine models at the local show level does *not* guarantee eligibility at North American Nationals. This will be at the discretion of the NAN Registrar or NAN Chair at NAN during judging. (Approval can be obtained in advance by contacting the Registrar prior to NAN Registration).
(2.) Creatures that have partial human anatomy or anatomy similar to humans, are not allowed even if they are more than 50% equine.
b. OF models will be judged based on collectibility criteria already outlined on the NAMHSA website and in the NAN packet.
c. CM/AR entries will be judged based on artistry of the sculpture, lack of prepping and painting flaws, overall presentation and believability of the creature's biomechanics.
This will go into effect this showing year (2019-2020). If you are a show holder who's show has already been approved and you would like to make changes to your classlist regarding these new policies, please contact Show Member Secretary Lindsay Diamond. If you have questions regarding how these changes affect showing fantasy in general, please contact your Regional Representative. Email links are here (HOTLINK contact page).

05/20/2019 Nominations are Needed for Regional Rep

Nominations are Needed for Regional Rep

Currently, there are NO Regional Representative nominations from Region 11. The current Regional Rep is not running for election to another term and without a nomination, your region will NOT be represented on the NAMHSA Board of Directors after the new year cycles in July. Ballots are to be out later this month and it is important that there be a Regional Rep vote for Region 11 on that ballot.
Current NAMHSA Showholders and Individual Members, you need to nominate candidates for Regional Representative. As a NAMHSA Showholder and Individual Member, it is your privilege and responsibility to nominate candidates for your region.
The NAMHSA 2019-2021 Regional Representatives will take office at the public Annual Meeting in July 2019. Their term will be for two years, ending at NAN 2021. This year, only ODD-numbered regions are up for election (even-numbered regions will be up for election in 2020). Showholders and Individual Members may nominate anyone for the office (including themselves), however, you MUST be certain the person you are nominating has confirmed they are willing to run for office. Current office holders (whose terms are expiring at the July 2019 public Annual Meeting) may be nominated again, provided they are willing to run for re-election. The nominee must reside within the Region for which he or she is nominated.
Candidates need to be aware that the job requires a lot of communicating between the members in their region and the Board, and requires making the time and commitment to QUICKLY respond to Board work and issues. Board members assume ultimate responsibility for running NAMHSA and assuring a quality NAN. Daily internet accessibility is required, as the NAMHSA Board is primarily an online forum and email entity. It requires the ability to read and respond to Board forum posts and emails every day. Representatives are a moderator of their respective regional Yahoo group lists, and are encouraged to participate in discussions with their constituents regarding NAMHSA issues.
The NAMHSA Board of Directors includes 11 Regional Representatives, who are nominated by the member showholders or individual members within their region.

THE NOMINATION DEADLINE IS MAY 27, 2019.

Voting Ballots for the election will be sent out in May. To send in your nominee(s), you must provide ALL of the information requested below. NAMHSA has to contact each nominee to confirm they want to run, so complete contact information is essential. Your nomination should be submitted here or emailed to the NAMHSA Recording Secretary. To send your nomination via email, simply copy and paste the information below into a new email and send to vote@namhsa.org. Please put “NAMHSA Nominee” in your subject line.

NAMHSA Policy IV. NAN, Section D 4. In case of Cancellation or Date Change of NAN, qualification Cards will automatically be extended for additional 1 year of eligibility.
Of immediate interest for our members, show holders and hobbyists alike, this policy will resolve the current need of a Board vote when NAN does not occur or in the instance of a date change. As NAN 2019 will not be held, all NAN cards that are expiring in 2019 will be eligible for use at NAN 2020.

03/01/2019 Resignation of Vice President Beth Patterson

Resignation of Vice President Beth Patterson

Recently, Beth Patterson announced her resignation as Vice President to the NAMHSA Board of Directors. Beth requested we share her announcement with the organization at large. Here is that announcement:

To the Board of Directors (BOD) and all NAMHSA members:
As many of you know I was hospitalized the end of last year. I did not announce it widely but I was diagnosed with renal cancer. Recently I had surgery which successfully removed all the tumor and part of a kidney. I very much appreciate the BOD standing with me through the past months of medical problems and letting me work only as I was able.
Unfortunately since the surgery its become apparent there are still issues I need to deal with and the recovery is going to take much longer than I had hoped. At this time I do not expect to be capable of taking over the presidency in July as scheduled and I do not think its fair to wait any longer to get another VP in place who can handle the 'promotion' and take over .... especially one with the energy to continue Sara and the BOD's ambitious work updating the web site, creating a usable forum and presenting by-law updates to members to better suit future needs.
With that in mind, I have submitted my resignation to the BOD and President effective immediately. I am so so sorry (to those of you who I talked to and who voted me in) that I can't continue right now but I am committed to supporting all the work in progress and to hopefully be able to volunteer for a position with NAMHSA in the future when my health stabilizes.

Beth Patterson, Vice-President, NAMHSA

The Board of Directors wishes Beth the very best for her recovery and future health and thanks her for her time with us.
There will be an announcement in the upcoming days pertaining to filling the vacant position.
